Keeping Your Jewelry Sparkling
Congratulations on your new piece of jewelry! From engagement rings, to necklaces, earrings or bracelets, you want to make sure that your pieces stay sparkling and wowing your friends and family!
The first and foremost rule we give customers is to make sure to take off your rings or other jewelry when working with your hands or doing something. If you’re doing yard work, swimming, or working out make sure to take your jewelry off to prevent dirt or debris from getting under your stones and dulling the sparkle. If you forget to take your jewelry off don’t worry, you’re not the only one!
We typically suggest whenever you are in town to bring it by Schnack’s and let us check and clean it for you; but if you need a quick rinse at home here is what we suggest:
1) Rinse your piece of jewelry off with warm water (don’t forget to close the drain)
2) Take an old toothbrush and scrub gently to get any build-up loose
3) Rinse again; repeat as needed
4) Dry completely (a hair dryer works wonders)
When in doubt, bring it in for us to check and clean! If you bring it directly to us, our jeweler can check prongs and make sure stones are secure along with using our ultrasonic cleaner to get the gunk out, followed by steaming it to get any debris out from under the stone to make it sparkle again! Next time you are in the store check out the cleaners we offer to customers.
